Recently in Madrid I found Restaurante Artemisa - on Calle Tres Cruces off Gran Via. I don't know if it is the same Artemisa featured in your guide, but it did seem to be newly set-up (I speak little Spanish, the proprietor no English). The decor was simple, the atmosphere relaxed. The food offered from a daily menu offering just a few choices. The price was about 8 euro for 3 courses including coffee and wine. -

Have you tried Asador Frontón, calle Dr. Cortezo (see G-14 on the maps), in Tirso de Molina? This is a brilliant restaurant. They specialise in two dishes. Carne de Bue (grilled beef fillet) and Merluza. They have many delicious 'starters' but pimientos rellenos con bacalao - Red peppers stuffed with cod - is special. Another treat is a bowl of consomme from the silver servers in Hardy's just off Plaza del Sol. -
